Dual Mode Rotary Vane Vacuum Pumps - BOC Edwards

Typical applications:

The RV series represents a real breakthrough in vacuum technology. At 50 Hz operation, their 48dBA sound level is typically half that of conventional pumps. They are robust and reliable, easy to use and maintain, and their unique dual-mode action means they can be easily configured for optimum performance over a broad operating range.

Dual-mode action is a new concept in rotary pumps, developed by BOC Edwards, which allows the user to adjust performance by means of a gas ballast and a mode selector. Gas ballast allows the pump to handle vapour which might condense in the pump and contaminate the oil, eventually causing the pump to corrode and seize. The mode selector allows the user to select high vacuum or high throughput, depending on the application.

RV pumps are easy to use - just connect up, plug in, flip the switch and you're pumping. They can be reconfigured at any time, even when the pump is running. All the controls are large, clearly marked, and easily accessible. No special tools are needed for servicing.

They are reliable too. Using state-of-the-art robotic manufacturing techniques, the main components of each pumping cartridge are produced from a solid pre-cast bar, so eliminating inconsistencies and weak spots. Top-grade materials are used throughout, and every pump undergoes a rigorous testing process including a 'quiet room' test in which a noise spectrum analyser checks individual frequencies as well as average noise levels. ISO9001 quality control ensures that every pump earns its test certificate - the final stage in the manufacturing process, and your guarantee of dependability.

RV series pumps will produce a vacuum from atmospheric pressure down to about 0.002 mbar, equivalent to an altitude of approximately 80km, or one half-millionth of normal atmospheric pressure. There are four models in the range:
RV3, RV5, RV8 and RV12.
